Act one is generous, but a few early decisions echo for the whole game.

- I
Long resting too rarely
Several companion scenes only trigger during long rests, and the game rarely punishes you for taking them in act one. Rest whenever you have spent your spell slots.
- II
Ignoring height and shove
High ground gives attack bonuses, and shove is a bonus action that can end fights instantly near ledges. Use both from the first goblin fight.
- III
Selling every scroll
Scrolls of Revivify and Misty Step are precious early. Keep a few in every character's inventory.
- IV
Skipping the druid grove argument
How you settle the conflict at the druid grove shapes who is alive in act two. Read every conversation there before acting.
- V
Never checking the camp chest
Items you send to camp are stored in the traveller's chest. Many players forget it exists and miss gear they picked up hours ago.
- VI
Rushing to the mountain pass
Some act one quests close when you move on. Finish what you can in the Underdark and around the grove before you leave.
